Test papers allow the qualitative determination of ions and chemical compounds. They are used to detect if compounds tested for are
present above the specific detection limit. Some of the papers have specific applications.

The test paper allows the easy determination of hydrosulfite (sodium dithionite) in alkaline solution. It is used to determine the endpoint in
the conversion of vat dyes to the leuco form. Because of the special purpose, indanthrene yellowpaper is also called hydrosulfite paper.
