The solution should be colourless and not more than 0.1 ml of 0.01 M sodium hydroxide should required to change the colour of the solution to pale pink

The colour of the emulsion should not darker than that of the standard mixture when shaken vigorously

Solid paraffins |
After 4 hours the liquid should be sufficiently clear that a black line; 0.5 mm in width, held vertically behind the vessel should be easily seen

The mixture should remains colourless
